Started my martial art career in 1986 with Musada Sport Karate – Pat McKay (4 times World Karate Champion) and Tommy Burns (European Karate Champion).
In 1988, when Musada disbanded, I started training in Shotokan with Kenny Henry, 2nd Dan.
In late 1990, I found TAGB Taekwondo at the Galleon Centre Kilmarnock, trained under the late Pat Mallon and Thomas Clark.
Started my Taekwondo sparring career in 1991
Started Teaching 1993 as assistant to Thomas Clark
Got my Black belt April of 1994 and entered my first world Championships in the July of this year.
In the September of 1994 I opened my first Taekwondo School in Ayr, whilst being the Assistant instructor in Kilmarnock.

I left Taekwondo in 1997 for a couple of years to help raise my two daughters and concentrate on my career, but it was not long
before i was back in martial arts doing some training with Dave Baptiste and Craig Foster, then Lau Gar Kickboxing with IAKSA.

In 2000, i came back to the TAGB and re-opened Kilmarnock TAGB under the "Phoenix Taekwondo" label, assisted by Kuli Chahal. Its 12 years
on and Phoenix Taekwondo has grown and evolved as a group of clubs with high quality Taekwondo instruction, and can boast multiple
World, European and British Champions, has 3 members of GB Squad and and those members helped Scotland to 2nd in 2010 World Team Championships, under my guidance.

At the WTA World Championships 2015, in Roana, Italy, i won my first World title in the over 36 year sparring category.

I want to continue to grow Phoenix Taekwondo brand and develop TAGB Scotland under the guidance of GM Paul Donnelly 8th Degree.
